You may have seen the fake Mark Curran/Think Before You Donate post that has been circulating since 2005. This is a rumor that has been debunked several times over (see below).

Last year, because of you, we provided over 866,000 services to more than 325,000  people through our Family of Nonprofits. This includes over 5,000 people with disabilities, 6,000 unemployed individuals, 12,000 at-risk youth, 13,000 individuals who are food insecure, 12,500 people experiencing homelessness, 300,000 low-income individuals, and 1,500 veterans.

Goodwill Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada diverted 61.2 million pounds from landfills – that’s a local impact! Goodwill is local – we are YOUR Goodwill. We currently serve the counties of Sacramento, Yolo, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Sierra, Glenn, Butte, Plumas, Tehama, Shasta, Lassen & Modoc in California. In Nevada, we serve the counties of Mineral, Lyon, Douglas, Carson City, Storey, Washoe, Churchill, Pershing, Humboldt, Lander, Eureka, Elko and White Pine. Click here for Map.

We employ more than 2,700 people, many with some type of barrier to self-sufficiency. Goodwill Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 94-1201202. We have a local President/CEO, Joseph Mendez, a local board of directors, and we are not owned by any individual or company. In essence, we belong to YOU, and we are proud to be your Goodwill.
